John J. Steger, IV, is the owner of Steger Law Firm, LLC. John is licensed to practice before most Louisiana Federal and state courts, the IRS and the Tax Court, and the Louisiana Board of Tax Appeals.
John’s practice areas focus on business and transactions law, mergers & acquisitions, entity formation, wealth transfers, probate and succession law, business and tax planning, and corporate, partnership and individual tax law.
John received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Southern Methodist University; his J.D. from LSU in 1996; and his Masters of Law in Taxation from SMU in 1997.
John has represented clients ranging from local clients purchasing small businesses, to Emeril when he sold all of his intellectual property to Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, to national clients in billion dollar transactions while working with KPMG's M&A Division in Dallas.
John also assists family law attorneys with complex property partitions and drafting QDROs to partition retirement assets.
John lives in Metairie with his son. In his spare time, John enjoys building and flying remote control aircraft, watching and attending motorcycle road races, reading, and learning to play the violin.
